The Power in the Smallest Seed
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the sheer size of the mountain in front of you? Maybe it’s a sudden financial crisis, a health scare, or an emergency situation where you know you need help right now.
That is exactly the time to remember Matthew 17:20:
"He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.'"
That little seed of faith isn't just for moving mountains of doubt; it’s for activating God’s immediate, unseen resources on your behalf. And sometimes, those resources wear wings.
God’s Unseen Army: The Ministry of Angels
It’s easy to forget that while we pray, there is an entire spiritual world in motion. The Bible confirms that angels are real and active—they are not just characters in Christmas stories!
Psalm 91:11-12 tells us: "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone."
Angels are ministering spirits (Hebrews 1:14), sent by God to serve and protect those who believe. When we speak a prayer of faith—no matter how brief or small—we are petitioning God to send direction, discernment, and divine protection.
A Story of Guidance in the Emergency
I remember one night years ago, driving home in a sudden, torrential downpour. The roads were invisible, and panic was creeping in. It wasn't life-threatening yet, but it was quickly becoming a crisis of safety.
In that moment of fear, I didn't have time for a perfect, 10-minute prayer. All I could manage was a whispered, desperate plea: "God, I have faith you are here. Send the help I need right now. Show me where to go."
Immediately, an overwhelming, calm voice flooded my mind—not audible, but distinct—directing me to take the very next exit, which felt completely counter-intuitive. I obeyed instantly, and less than a mile down the ramp, I saw a massive accident scene on the main highway where I would have been in seconds. I was able to safely wait out the storm.
Did God send an angel to whisper that direction? I believe He did. My mustard seed faith allowed me to push past the panic and receive the specific, immediate guidance I needed for that emergency. My faith wasn't strong; my God was.
